That’s it, no funny business or fees here! We will only run a couple of banner ads on the page to help keep the lights on.

How do I post an ad online?

To post an ad, signup with your email address and create an account. This account will be used to access ads you have posted online, to edit any ad information, or to remove ads from the site. Once your account is created you will have to confirm your email address. After this step, click ‘publish my ad for free’, and select a category to place your ad. Fill in the relevant details of your item: price, description, location, photos, hit submit, and boom! Your ad has been posted!

From here enter the relevant details of your item:  price, description, location, photos, and your email, and a validation notice will be sent to the email given. Once you have received the email, follow the appropriate link to confirm your ad and post it to our site!

How do I remove my ad?

If your item has sold, or you no longer wish you the sell the item, simply login to your Post a Note account. Once in your account, you can view your current ads, and click on the ‘delete’ button under the relevant ad.  A separate window will pop up, asking if you want to delete your ad, click ‘ok’. Your ad has been successfully deleted from the Post a Note site.

If you don’t have an account, your original validation email for that listing, will contain a link to delete or edit your ad. Can’t find that email? No problem. Just email us with the listing title and your email, and we will verify you own the listing and then delete it.

How do you negotiate a price for an item?

Unlike other New Zealand Classified sites, there is no online bidding process or buy now feature. The seller sets the price of an item and if you are interested in purchasing the item you contact the seller and you both sort out a purchase price. We recommend that you see an item before agreeing to a purchase price.

How do you purchase an item?

Once the buyer and seller agree on a time and place to meet via, email, text, or phone correspondence, they determine a fair purchase price. For safety’s sake, it is always best to meet in a public place or bring a friend with you if you are going to meet someone and view their item for sale. Cash is the easiest way to pay for items. We recommend you thoroughly inspect an item before you purchase it, as Post a Note can in no way enforce a money-back guarantee.

How long does my ad stay on the site?

Your ad stays on the site for 60 days. Before that period you may mark your ad as sold and remove it from the website, or you may renew your ad after your initial 60 day period.

How can I report an ad?

If you come across an ad you feel is inappropriate, click on the offensive listing. Above the “Contact Seller’ form, there is a drop-down menu that says ‘Mark as..”. Click on this box to mark this ad as: spam, misclassified, duplicated, expired, or offensive. We will deal with that ad from here, thanks for your help!

Can you return Post a Note items?

Because we never handle your money or merchandise we also do not handle returns, exchanges, or refunds. If you wish to return an item purchased, you will have to take it up with the seller. Post a Note, does offer some tips for buyers and sellers in safety tips.

How to post a ‘Wanted’ item?

It is has been our experience that the best way to post a ‘Wanted’ item is to put the post in the appropriate category and subcategory. In the title of your ad, you should add into the title ‘Wanted’ so people understand you want the item and are not in fact selling it. Example: “Wanted: 1992 Red Corvette”. This puts your post in front of people who might have your item, instead of a separate section that is not visited as much.
